THE AL NELSON

ROCK 'N' SOUL SHOW
& ROY ORBISON TRIBUTE

Al Nelson

Audiences all over the country have given Al Nelson standing ovations many times over for his amazing showmanship and vocal talents. His presentation of the hits spanning the 50’s through the 70’s incorporates audience participation, comedy and high energy choreography. Al’s musical path has led him from venues as varied as nightclub circuits, casinos and supper clubs, to corporate events and large concert productions.

Al started his musical career in the West Texas town of Midland and has been entertaining audiences since his first show-band went on tour in 1970.   Over the course of his musical career he has added a Roy Orbison tribute act as well as a tribute to Paul McCartney and a comedy tribute to Elvis.

He has toured with two nationally acclaimed shows, Cavalcade of Stars and Rock-N-Roll Heaven, which is produced by Charles Stone, who was Elvis Presley’s Tour Manager in the 70’s.  Al has also toured with the internationally acclaimed Buddy, Roy & Elvis Show, produced by John Mueller.

Among the many places where he has appeared, some of his most memorable were performances at the Starlight Theater in Branson, Missouri, the RoxyTheater in Atlanta, on Carnival Cruise Lines, at The Palace Theater on Broadway, the El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico, the Majestic Theater in Dallas, the Orchard Show Room in Singapore and at the Sands in Las Vegas, on the same stage often graced by Frank Sinatra. The longest running show in Las Vegas, Legends in Concert, requested Al’s Roy Orbison tribute on two occasions.

“As Al Nelson held the last note of ‘Crying’, I saw the audience begin to applaud….then stand…. then shout and cheer.  Many cried.  It was electric.  There just isn’t any doubt: Al Nelson simply becomes Roy Orbison.”
